I'm seeing how I can do the CDL as fast as I can. Being in SoCal, DMV's are a shitstorm here no matter where I go. I'd have to go to the DMV this week, pass my permit test (I have just been doing the online practice tests), be able to sign up, and complete the school as fast as possible, as well as being able to set up my driving test with the DMV. I'm not entirely sure if I have enough time to get it. They said it normally is about 2hrs a day but I can do 4hrs. I called around different driving schools and the fastest one I've found only does training mon thru thurs. It ends on the 10th of May and I don't even have a permit yet. I know I do need my CDL, and crappy enough I don't have enough time to get it before this round of applications. They said that I don't need any experience to apply. I obviously passed a 6 month full-time police academy, which is something a lot of people cannot do.Įdit: to add, I completed Calculus III in college (no degree), and graduated the top academically of my 47 person police academy class. Should I go ahead and try it? Would they even look at my application seeing as I don't have any related work experience at all? I have no issue taking the class and paying for it that way. I do not have a Class A CDL, but I viewed a school near my house and it seems to costs approximately $2,000 (I think?) to get one, and it's only a 40 hour course. I looked, and saw that they are accepting applications at the end of this month. It seems the only way to do it is through the CalNevJATC program, aside from being hired directly by a private company, is that correct?

I've looked into how to become one in Southern California (open to other areas as well). I had a few run-ins with them during my time on the street. I've always viewed the work as a lineman as very interesting and engaging. I was almost off of training, when I was told by the assistant chief that I "didn't fit in" there, and since resigning from there have pretty much been blackballed from ever becoming a sworn law enforcement officer ever again.Ĭurrently, I work as a Tribal Officer, non-sworn, essentially a well-paid security guard. I worked as a Deputy Sheriff for approximately two years for San Bernardino County, and then lateraled to the Pomona Police Department, where I worked as a Police Officer for approximately nine months.
